This was a guy who had an incredible major leagues baseball career interrupted twice by wars. After serving in WWII he went back and volunteered to fly fighters in the Korean War. He was a six time American League batting champion, a four time American League home run leader, a four time American League RBI leader and a nineteen time All-Star.
Being invited to work on the main titles for a documentary celebrating this incredible baseball player, patriot and hero was the opportunity of a lifetime

The Process
There were a few key storylines in Ted Williams life we needed to cover. After finding the select shots from the pile of archival footage and stills, we set about animating the stills, colorizing and shot extending the footage.
Splitting images and footage into layers allowed us to create and simulate camera movement coupled with puppetry and anchor point animation helped bring the edit to life.
A few shots utilized a 3D projection mapping technique which allowed us to build camera moves making the shots more dynamic. A good edit and score help round it out.
