The Impact – In show GFX

Following the overwhelming popularity and acclaim of the original “The Impact: Atlanta” series, eOne reached out to us for a second go round. Our marching orders were to adapt and modify the elements we created for Atlanta to create a package familial for the New York title.

The Process

Thems some tasty vittles

Our goal was to leverage the established and well-received aesthetic from our original series package, while tailoring it to complement the unique locale and narrative of the New York sister IP. Our designers worked closely with eOne’s creative team to meticulously modify things like the color palette, cityscape imagery, character designs, and other key graphical components.

The end result was a cohesive visual language that maintained the core visual identity of “The Impact: Atlanta” while authentically reflecting the New York-centric focus of the sister IP. This exercise also provides guidance for continued IP expansion allowing eOne to build upon the successful foundations of the original series while expanding its reach and appeal to new audiences.

The orginal show title for The Impact was developed as a one off without additional spin-off sister shows in mind. However, once eOne caught wind of the wild success of the Atlanta title, it was all but assured there would need to be some work done to create a package that could be leveraged across the entire IP while also maintaining theme distinctions for the different cities.

Color Palette

When eOne came back to The New Blank to develop the package for The Impact NY, we could see that one of the key differences between cities would need to be color palette. As in Atlanta, each character was given a key color for their hero stat cards which would transcend into backgrounds and their representation on the main title sequence.

Stat Cards

One of the many elements of these packages were the stat cards. The characters in each show had their own life and career details that needed to be recognizable at a glance. The elements themselves needed to be modifiable episode to episode.

Lower Thirds!

The lower thirds needed to be flexible. We developed a look that could support the standard 1, 2, and 3 lines of copy but could also go beyond that and still be legible, within family and easy for an editor to modify on a moments notice.
