The Azteca campaign was all about their ready to eat meals being easy and fast to prepare but still being authentic Mexican foods of high quality. We developed a treatment which utilized loads of product posters and textiles animated with stop-motion techniques on stucco and adobe walls.

The Process

This campaigns central theme was quality and speed. All of their food is crafted with care. We created a look that was based on familiar textures and colors found in Mexican traditional architecture and textiles. The hand crafted style helped convey the concept of quality as well as authenticity. We scoured the interwebs for imagery of small villages in Mexico for inspiration as well as general guidance to keep the imagery we were creating realistic.

An extension of that style included a stop motion based animation style so all the Azteca taco and burrito builds were shot on tabletop stop-motion style. Other parts of the spot were created completely in post by using still assets and animated to feel stop motion as well.
