The New Blank builds content through live-action, illustration, and animation regardless of the verticals, whether broadcast, film, digital, or print. We have produced everything from film titles to 26 story tall digital environmental displays to branding, key art, stage design, and signage for music festivals. We excel at taking projects from the mythical napkin sketch through production and finish but are pretty damn savvy at jumping into any phase of production, inserting our thought process and creativity as well as our technical chops, to get across the finish line. Our process is centered around our directors and creative team. We start all our projects with a creative brainstorm getting as many different perspectives possible regardless of the deliverable scheme. The leadership team assigned is involved from beginning to end, your project does not get bounced around and handed off as it moves from phase to phase. Our directors work from the initial pitches and treatments throughout production and post-production to ensure quality and continuity of vision, whether it is a straight forward broadcast package or something much more involved, including branding or digital executions.

90th Oscars Branding

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC presented us with one of those rare moments when a project feels less like work and more like being part of something truly historic. The Academy’s 90th Oscars was a one-of-a-kind opportunity to blend nine decades of Hollywood grandeur with contemporary design sensibilities. We crafted this bespoke identity system that felt timeless and fresh. A custom anniversary logo anchored our design, harmonizing with the iconic OSCARS wordmark as if they’d been lifelong partners. There was something almost reverent about our photography sessions with those legendary statuettes – each golden figure carrying the weight of countless cinematic dreams.

After we created this stunning visual experience that transformed everything from broadcast graphics to the Dolby Theatre’s physical space, we had a second act to write. Not only were the standard pieces and parts required for delivery, but the client also needed a robust template system that would empower the Academy’s in-house teams for years to come. It’s fun to think how our bespoke designs would continue shaping Oscar nights long after the 90th celebration’s final curtain call.
